In January 2007, following the very poor attendance in the youth sections of the FCBA Solo & Quartet contest, members of Kingdom Brass met to discuss implementing a youth policy for the band. From this initial meeting, a new committee was formed with the sole aim of organising, financing and setting up Kingdom's own youth band.

In the autumn of 2007, the structure and funding for the youth band was in place, and Kingdom Brass was able to purchase their first set of student instruments. November 2007 and January 2008 saw the band carry out 4 workshops in local primary schools, with intakes of young players following those. By February 2008 the number of players receiving tuition was up to 25.

Looking forward, Kingdom are hoping to continue this recruitment process, and bring in even more young players. The initial intake of players in December 2007 and February 2008 have now progressed far enough to form the Kingdom Brass Youth Band, which gave it's first performance as part of the Aberdour Festival in August 2008.
