Brian Hutchison Brian Hutchison plays with Buckhaven & Methil Band, and is the Chairman of Buckhaven Brass Beginnings.

FY:NG Secretary - Alison Hall

Alison Hall Alison Hall, Secretary of the FY:NG, currently works as a peripatetic brass instructor in the Fife Region. She tutors with the Fife Youth Orchestra and Concert Band. She is also involved with the youth activities at her first band, Dunfermline Town, as well as being head tutor with the Kingdom Brass Youth Initiative, and has tutored at other bands for sectionals and workshops.

After being taught her first scale on the tenor horn by her father at the age of 9 she went on to get lessons at Dunfermline Town Band, and then later in school. Gaining invaluable experience she stayed with this band for several years and gradually progressed to the solo horn seat. In 1994 she was offered solo horn with the then championship band Kelty and Blairadam, where she stayed until heading south to study music.

Alison chose to study a performance course at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and had the privilege to work with such individuals as Howard Snell, James Gourlay, Sandy Smith and others. During her time down south she mainly played with the Point of Ayr brass band based in North Wales. This included winning the Welsh Regionals and playing for the first time at the National Finals in the Royal Albert Hall as well as a 3rd place at the European Brass Band Championships in Kerkrade.

During most of this time Alison was also a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland under the direction of Richard Evans and Frank Renton, and served as principal horn for several years. She still holds the musical experiences she had there in very high regard.

After graduating Alison returned to Scotland and has since been a member of top Scottish bands Whitburn, Kirkintilloch and Kingdom Brass. She has guested with many others and is also currently involved with the all-female scottish brass band "Girls Allowed!"

FY:NG Treasurer - Dorothy Hall

Dorothy Hall Dorothy Hall, Treasurer of the FY:NG, is currently Secretary of Dunfermline Town Band.

FY:NG General Committee

With the formation of the FY:NG band in 2007, it was agreed all the FCBA member bands would be asked to contribute to the administration and running of the band.

The General Committee of the FY:NG is now made up of the officials named above, as well as one representative from each of the FCBA member bands. This allows greater distribution of work, and allows each of the bands much more say in the administration of the youth band.
