FY:NG History
The Fife Youth Band began in 2007 when several of the Fife bands realised youth development
was spread over a large area with various pockets of activity, but with no organisation or
opportunity for those players to meet and interact
The initial workshop was a huge success, and the young players were asked to come up with a
name for this organisation - Fife Youth:Next Generation was the preferred choice.
Since that initial workshop, the FY:NG has now progressed into two seperate bands, the Development Band for
beginners, and the Senior Band for more advanced players.
In 2008, with the new FCBA Executive Committee in place and a renewed drive and focus apparent,
The FY:NG organisation was combined with the FCBA to form one organisation with a dual committee
structure, with each band represented to develop both the youth and senior bands in Fife.
